We nurture individuals and community through local, unique and high quality coffee, custard, nostalgic candies and personal, compassionate customer service. The Corner Coffee and Custard strives to set ourselves apart by our products and our service.
We have a long history of appreciating the care and quality of Copper Canyon Coffee. They begin with organic beans that are roasted in small batches at their store in Battlefield, MO. “We take every step possible to discover and preserve the true nature of each coffee beans' unique characteristics. We believe that using the finest coffee, the best equipment, and careful roasting we can deliver the finest coffee to you.” - Copper Canyon Coffee
Made in Salem, MO by Houston-grown Charlee Sue Jadwin, C-Sue Custard is made with real ingredients; Jersey milk, eggs, cream, sugar. C-Sue's Custard provides our customers with a constant evolution of creative, creamy and dreamy custard, of which, with extra care, the plain vanilla and plain chocolate are gluten-free. “I consider it a blessing to provide a big city product in a small town.” - Charlee-Sue Jadwin (And so do we, Charlee Sue!)
We are fortunate to have a local, gourmet chocolatier, Melly's Munchies, another world-quality confection available on our tiny little corner. “How are we different? Says Melly, the chocolatier. “We use gourmet Belgian chocolate, a difference you can truly taste in the first bite.” - Melly, the chocolatier, like a chef, takes her ingredients - of which chocolate is the star, and creates something truly wonderful.
We carry a wide array of nostalgic and trendy super sweets too numerous to mention – Cherry Mashes, Goo-goos, Dad's Root Beer Barrels, Cherry Sours, Chocolate Espresso Beans, Runts, Freeze-dried ice cream bars and even suckers with Ants!
Even before businesses and homes had address numbers in the early history of Houston, the intersection of Pine and Grand was known to the community as “the center of the universe.” A 90-foot-deep well in the intersection made it a gathering place, and so did the impromptu Houston band concerts summoned by a trumpet call from an upper window of the old Blankenship drugstore by the silver trumpet of band leader S.A. Atkisson. Built in 1913 by the Odd Fellows organization, this building housed a soda fountain for more that 70 years. In cherishing our history we hope to nurture our future by once again becoming a place of sweet treats and great meets!
During this complex time period when simplicity is something we crave, a respite from the chaos of 24-hour social media and news, we strive to know our visitors and customers as
our neighbors and friends, with service of kindness, patience and love. “And the greatest of
these is love..” Cor. 13:
